Our Mission & Story
My name is Trina Sills and I was the Director of the Sunday morning Youth Church at New Birth Christian Ministries for over 20 years. After retiring from my IT Consultant position from a local insurance company for over 40 years I started volunteering in noon day school release programs that provide Bible teaching for students that are not able to receive this training in the public school. With the lunch hour school programs that included the school release process, transportation to a local church, meal, lesson, activity and transportation back to the school I felt that we were rushed at times. I also saw the need to help students with key learning gaps. Some students needed support with reading while others that could read well struggled with self-confidence and others needed assistance with writing and spelling.
God laid it upon my heart to provide a program that offers an opportunity for students to learn about God, meet His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ and apply His principals in their daily lives along with offering academic support. What God made apparent is that this vision could not be accomplished in a one hour, one day per week program to address all of a student’s needs. After much prayer and His leading overtime, Trailblazers Discipleship Ministry was formed. God placed five individuals (Pastor Yaves Ellis, Apostle Anita Dawson, Elzora Kimmons, Carol Phillips and Kisca Sturkie) in my path to assist and they provided the inspiration needed to implement this program.

The program is based on Matthew 28:19 and by the end of the program students will learn that they have a responsibility to share Jesus’ teachings to others that they meet. Our overall desire is to Build Young Disciples that will set the standard in their Classroom, Community and Church.
The Great Commission –
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
– Matthew 28:19
